Meet Your Instructor

Olivia Buehler, Certified ISR Instructor

I’m a mom of 3, a registered nurse, with nearly 8 years experience in a Level 4 Neonatal ICU, and a certified ISR instructor. I became an ISR
parent about 6 years ago when I took my oldest son to his first lesson. As a parent, I was very skeptical (I actually visited a local pool & watched several hours of lessons before signing up). From day one I was completely sold. My passion for ISR has grown as I’ve watched my boys become confident and competent in the water. It would be my honor to partner with you and your child so that together we can pursue ISR’s mission that not one more child will drown.

Infant Swimming Resource is the safest and most effective provider of survival swimming lessons worldwide, teaching ISR Self-Rescue skills to children ages 6 months to 6 years old. With more than 50 years of experience and the highest safety standards in the industry, ISR is able to deliver the best survival swimming instruction in the world today. The result? More than 15 million safe and effective lessons delivered, providing children with a foundation for safety and a lifetime of fun in and around the water.

Why ISR?

“ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy.”

— JoAnn Barnett, ISR SMI, President & CEO of Infant Swimming Resource

Infants & Early Walkers

Children about 6 months - 18 months

The rollback to float program teaches your baby to independently turn themselves onto their back if ever face down in the water. To safely breathe, rest, and float on their back until help arrives. This skill set takes about 6-8 weeks to accomplish but can vary depending on the child. *Infants must be at least 6 months of age AND sitting up independently.

Toddlers & Big Kids

Children 18 months & older

Lessons for toddlers, preschoolers, and young children focus on teaching the swim-float-swim survival sequence. Children learn to swim with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe. The combination of these skills allow a child to reach the side of the pool or edge of the water where they can either crawl out or until they can be rescued.

Scheduling

ISR lessons are taught for 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for an average of 6 weeks. The scheduling of this lesson sequence is based on many years of research, proving that teaching infants and young children in a one-on-one setting, in 10-minute increments, is the safest and most effective way to teach survival swimming. ISR lessons are customized for each child to ensure their lessons honor their physical and emotional development as well as their previous aquatic experiences

What my clients are saying

We have been with Olivia for two years now and it’s been the best decision! For our initial sessions our littles were 1 and 3. Our 3 year old hated water in her face and our 1 year old was quite stubborn. Olivia handled both with such confidence, skill and grace and both of our kids loved her and the water by the end of it. We’re back this year for our refreshers and the kids are excited to be back in the water with her and they are ready for a safe summer. We couldn’t recommend ISR and Olivia enough! Thanks for helping our family stay safe and have some fun!

As parents, we are always concerned with the safety and well-being of our children. As a nervous parent moving to a location surrounded by lots of water and a baby who absolutely loves water, I was especially worried for the safety of my child. When enrolling in ISR, I was extremely nervous and full of anxiety. The idea of putting my baby into a pool and hoping for the best was daunting but I knew it had to be done. I did my research and found Olivia. Boy, was I happy that I made the decision to go with her! She is so, so kind, patient, and so personable! You can feel her passion when she is in the water working with the kids! As a mom, this gives me such immense joy and comfort to know my child is in good hands! We are about halfway through the process and my baby girl is already starting to get the hang of it! I am beyond excited to see my baby learn all the things for ISR! Olivia is hands down the best! Not only an amazing instructor but simply a great person! I cannot thank her enough for the invaluable gift she is provide for my child!

Choosing ISR for my kids’ lessons was the best decision I’ve made for their safety and development. Olivia is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and skilled in teaching survival techniques. Within the 6 weeks, both of my kids (5 & 2) made incredible progress in their confidence and abilities in the water. As a parent, this gave me such peace of mind. I HIGHLY recommend Olivia as an ISR Instructor!
